eps CrB and Its Planet

eps CrB is a K2 III star 228 light-years away, with a reported age of 1.74 billion years. Its mass is 1.7 solar masses and its radius is 21 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's, while its temperature of 4410 K is cooler than the Sun's. Only one planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, eps CrB b, was discovered in 2012 by the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. It has a minimum mass of 2130 Earth masses, meaning its true mass is at least this much, and an orbital period of 418 days. Its minimum mass is larger than Earth's and roughly 6.7 times Jupiter's mass.
