WISPIT 2: A Very Young Star With Two Imaged Planets

WISPIT 2 is a star 440 light-years away with two known planets. The star is very young, with an age of 0.0051 billion years. That places it under 0.1 billion years, the threshold that marks a very young star. It has a mass of 1.08 solar masses and a radius of 1.42 solar radii, larger than the Sun's. Its temperature is 4400 K, cooler than the Sun's.

Both planets were found by imaging. WISPIT 2 b was discovered in 2025 and has a mass of 1540 Earth masses, roughly 4.85 times Jupiter's mass and larger than Earth's. No orbital period is reported for it.

WISPIT 2 c was discovered in 2026 and is Jupiter-like, a size class that exceeds 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 17.9 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its mass is 3180 Earth masses, roughly 10 times Jupiter's mass and larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 3.04 g/cm³, 0.551 times Earth's. No orbital period is reported for WISPIT 2 c.

Among the listed planets, WISPIT 2 b has the smallest reported mass, at 1540 Earth masses, and WISPIT 2 c has the largest, at 3180 Earth masses.
