WASP-85 A b: A Jupiter-like World Around a Sun-like Star

WASP-85 A is a G-type dwarf star 463 light-years away. Its spectral type of G5 V marks it as Sun-like, and its reported mass estimate is 1.09 solar masses, larger than the Sun's. The star's reported radius estimate is 0.935 solar radii, smaller than the Sun's, while its temperature of 6110 K is hotter than the Sun's.

One planet orbits this host. WASP-85 A b is a Jupiter-like planet discovered by transit in 2016, meaning it passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. It completes an orbit in 2.66 days. Its reported mass estimate of 402 Earth masses is larger than Earth's and roughly 1.27 times Jupiter's mass. Its reported radius estimate of 13.9 Earth radii is also larger than Earth's.
