WASP-84 and Its Two Planets

WASP-84 is a K0 star located 328 light-years away. It has an age of 1 billion years, a mass of 0.842 solar masses, and a radius of 0.748 solar radii. Its temperature is 5310 K, cooler than the Sun's. The star's reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, and its reported radius estimate is also smaller than the Sun's.

Two planets orbit WASP-84. WASP-84 b was discovered by transit in 2014. It is a Jupiter-like planet with a mass of 220 Earth masses, a radius of 10.7 Earth radii, and an orbital period of 8.52 days. Both its reported radius and mass estimates are larger than Earth's. WASP-84 c was discovered by transit in 2023. It is a Super-Earth with a mass of 15.2 Earth masses, a radius of 1.95 Earth radii, and an orbital period of 1.45 days. Its reported radius and mass estimates are also larger than Earth's. Among the listed planets, WASP-84 c has the shortest year by reported estimates and the smallest radius, while WASP-84 b has the longest year and the largest radius. WASP-84 b also has the largest reported mass among the listed planets.

WASP-84 b's mean density is 0.984 g/cm³, 0.179 times Earth's. WASP-84 c's mean density is 11.3 g/cm³, 2.05 times Earth's. Among the listed planets, WASP-84 c has the smallest reported mass at 15.2 Earth masses.
