WASP-67 b: A Jupiter-Like World in a Close Orbit

WASP-67 is a star 618 light-years away with a mass of 0.943 solar masses, a radius of 0.831 solar radii, and a temperature of 5420 K. Its reported radius estimate is smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

One planet orbits this host. WASP-67 b is a Jupiter-like planet discovered by transit in 2012. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. WASP-67 b completes its orbit in 4.61 days. It has a mass of 137 Earth masses and a radius of 12.9 Earth radii, so its reported radius estimate and its reported mass estimate are both larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.352 g/cm³, 0.0638 times Earth's.
