WASP-25: A Distant Star With a Single Known Planet

WASP-25 is a star 690 light-years from Earth, with a mass of 0.962 solar masses and a radius of 0.884 solar radii. It is 1.9 billion years old and has a temperature of 5700 K. One planet has been found orbiting this host.

That planet is WASP-25 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2010. It orbits every 3.76 days at a radius of 13.8 Earth radii, and its mass is 179 Earth masses. Its mean density is 0.375 g/cm³, 0.0681 times Earth's. The star's reported mass and radius estimates are both smaller than the Sun's.
