WASP-22 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

WASP-22 is a G-type main-sequence star 1040 light-years away. It is a Sun-like dwarf with 1.1 solar masses and 1.13 solar radii, so its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's. Its temperature of 6000 K is hotter than the Sun's, and it is 3 billion years old.

One planet orbits this star. WASP-22 b is a Jupiter-like planet discovered by transit in 2010. It completes an orbit every 3.53 days. Its radius of 13.8 Earth radii is larger than Earth's, and its mass of 213 Earth masses is also larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.448 g/cm³, which is 0.0813 times Earth's.
