WASP-177 is a K2 star located 577 light-years away. It has a mass of 0.876 solar masses and a radius of 0.885 solar radii, making it both less massive and smaller than the Sun. Its temperature is 5020 K, cooler than the Sun's. The star is estimated to be 9.7 billion years old. One planet is known to orbit this host.
That planet is WASP-177 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered in 2019 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star causes a small dip in observed brightness. It completes an orbit every 3.07 days and has a radius of 17.7 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its mass is 161 Earth masses, also greater than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.16 g/cm³, which is 0.0291 times Earth's.
