WASP-157 is a G-type main-sequence star located 1090 light-years away. The star is estimated to be 1.6 billion years old, with a mass of 1.26 solar masses and a radius of 1.13 solar radii; its temperature is 5840 K. One planet orbits this host.
That planet, WASP-157 b, was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It is classified as Jupiter-like, a size class for planets whose radius exceeds 4 times Earth's radius. WASP-157 b has a radius of 11.2 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 3.95 days.
