WASP-121 b: A Jupiter-like World Around an F-type Star

WASP-121 is a single star located 880 light-years away, with one known planet in orbit. The host is an F6 V star, a main-sequence dwarf hotter than the Sun. It has an age of 1.5 billion years, a mass of 1.35 solar masses, a radius of 1.46 solar radii, and a temperature of 6460 K. Its mass and radius are larger than the Sun's, and its temperature is hotter.

The sole cataloged planet is WASP-121 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet crosses in front of its star and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It has a mass of 372 Earth masses, roughly 1.17 times Jupiter's mass, and a radius of 19.5 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its orbital period is 1.27 days.

WASP-121 b's mean density is 0.275 g/cm³, 0.05 times Earth's.
