TOI-969 and Its Two Known Planets

TOI-969 is a K-type main-sequence star 252 light-years away, with two planets. The star's reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, at 0.734 solar masses, and its reported radius estimate is also smaller than the Sun's, at 0.671 solar radii. Its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's, at 4440 K. The star's age is 2.03 billion years. A spectral type of K V identifies a main-sequence dwarf cooler and redder than the Sun.

TOI-969 b is a Neptune-like planet discovered by the transit method in 2022. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's, at 2.77 Earth radii, and its reported mass estimate is also larger than Earth's, at 9.1 Earth masses. Its mean density is 2.37 g/cm³, 0.43 times Earth's. It completes an orbit in 1.82 days, the shortest orbital period among the listed planets by reported estimates.

TOI-969 c was discovered by the radial velocity method in 2022, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. It has a minimum mass of 3590 Earth masses, meaning its true mass is at least this value, and its minimum mass is larger than Earth's. That minimum mass is roughly 11.3 times Jupiter's mass. TOI-969 c's orbital period is 1700 days, the longest orbital period among the listed planets by reported estimates.
