TOI-929 b: A Neptune-like World in a Distant System

TOI-929 is a star located 373 light-years from Earth, and it hosts one known planet. The star has a reported mass of 0.7 solar masses, a radius of 0.717 solar radii, and a temperature of 4450 K. Its mass and radius are smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet TOI-929 b was discovered by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-929 b completes an orbit every 5.83 days. Its radius is 2.69 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's. This radius places it in the Neptune-like size class, where planet size classes compare radius with Earth's: a Neptune-like planet reaches four times Earth's radius.
