TOI-672 b: A Jupiter-Like World Around a Cool Red Dwarf

TOI-672 is an M0 V star, a small, cool red dwarf, located 218 light-years away. Its reported mass is 0.54 solar masses and its reported radius is 0.54 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's. Its temperature is 3810 K, cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this star.

That planet, TOI-672 b, is Jupiter-like, meaning its radius exceeds four times Earth's. It was discovered in 2023 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. Its radius is 5.31 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 50.9 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit every 3.63 days. Its mean density is 1.87 g/cm³, 0.34 times Earth's.
