TOI-615 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-615 is an F-type main-sequence dwarf 1180 light-years away. The star is 1.7 billion years old, with a mass of 1.45 solar masses, a radius of 1.73 solar radii, and a temperature of 6850 K. One planet orbits this star.

That planet, TOI-615 b, was discovered in 2023 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star dims the observed light. It is a Jupiter-like world, a class defined by radii exceeding four times Earth's. TOI-615 b has a radius of 19 Earth radii and completes an orbit every 4.66 days.

TOI-615 b's mass is 138 Earth masses, and its mean density is 0.111 g/cm³, 0.0202 times Earth's.
