TOI-6000: A Nearby Red Dwarf with a Fast-Orbiting Sub-Earth

TOI-6000 is a star located 247 light-years away. Its reported mass estimate is 0.366 solar masses and its reported radius estimate is 0.378 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's. With a temperature of 3420 K, it is also cooler than the Sun. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, TOI-6000 b, was discovered in 2025 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-6000 b completes one orbit in 0.449 days, so its year is extremely short. Its radius is 0.94 Earth radii, and it is classified as a Sub-Earth, a size class for planets smaller than Earth. Its reported radius estimate is accordingly smaller than Earth's.
