TOI-5882 b: A Giant World Around a Massive Star

TOI-5882 is a star 1360 light-years away with a mass of 1.55 solar masses, a radius of 2.33 solar radii, and a temperature of 6060 K. It is 2.44 billion years old, and its reported mass and radius are each larger than the Sun's, while its temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet, TOI-5882 b, is a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2025. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. TOI-5882 b completes an orbit every 7.15 days, has a radius of 11.5 Earth radii, and a mass of 7000 Earth masses - roughly 22 times Jupiter's mass. Its mean density is 25.6 g/cm³, 4.64 times Earth's. Its radius and mass are both larger than Earth's.
