TOI-564 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-564 is a star 651 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 7.3 billion years old and has a mass of 0.998 solar masses, a radius of 1.09 solar radii, and a temperature of 5640 K. Its radius is larger than the Sun's, while its temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet TOI-564 b was discovered by transit in 2020. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-564 b is Jupiter-like, a class for planets exceeding 4 times Earth's radius. Its orbital period is 1.65 days. Its radius is 11.4 Earth radii and its mass is 465 Earth masses, roughly 1.46 times Jupiter's mass. Both its radius and mass are larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 1.71 g/cm³, 0.311 times Earth's.
