TOI-5159 b: A Super-Earth in a Close Orbit

TOI-5159 is a star 180 light-years from Earth with a mass of 0.9 solar masses and a radius of 0.854 solar radii. Its temperature is 5260 K. The star hosts one known planet.

That planet, TOI-5159 b, is a Super-Earth, a size class that extends to 2.5 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 1.55 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit every 5.84 days. The planet was found by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star dims the star's light slightly; repeated dips reveal the orbital period.
