TOI-5076 b: A Neptune-Like World Around a K-Type Dwarf

TOI-5076 is a K2 V main-sequence star located 270 light-years away, a cooler and redder class of star than the Sun. Its reported mass is 0.8 solar masses and its radius is 0.78 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's corresponding values, while its temperature of 5070 K is cooler than the Sun's. The star is also estimated to be 9 billion years old. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, TOI-5076 b, was discovered in 2024 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It is a Neptune-like planet, a size class that reaches up to 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 3.49 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 16.1 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 2.09 g/cm³, 0.38 times Earth's. TOI-5076 b completes one orbit, or year, in 23.4 days.
