TOI-4734 b: A Jupiter-Like Planet Orbiting a Distant Star

TOI-4734 is a star located 1840 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is estimated to be 3.2 billion years old, with a mass of 1.39 solar masses and a radius of 1.86 solar radii. Its temperature is 6070 K, and its reported mass, radius, and temperature are all larger or hotter than the Sun's.

The planet, TOI-4734 b, was discovered in 2025 using the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's brightness when a planet passes in front of it. TOI-4734 b is classified as Jupiter-like, meaning its radius exceeds four times Earth's radius. Its radius is 10.9 Earth radii, and its mass is 61.7 Earth masses; both values are larger than Earth's. The planet completes an orbit in 6.24 days. Its mean density is 0.261 g/cm³.
