TOI-4638 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

TOI-4638 is a single-star system 549 light-years away. The host star has a mass of 1.01 solar masses, a radius of 0.895 solar radii, and a temperature of 5700 K; its reported radius estimate is smaller than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this star.

That planet is TOI-4638.01, a Neptune-like world discovered in 2024 by the transit method. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-4638.01 has an orbital period of 10.3 days, radius of 2.93 Earth radii, and a reported radius estimate larger than Earth's.
