TOI-4551 b: A Jupiter-Like World in a Distant Star System

TOI-4551 is a star 704 light-years away with one known planet. The star is estimated to be 4.92 billion years old, with a mass of 1.31 solar masses and a radius of 3.55 solar radii. Its temperature is 4900 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, while its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The single planet orbiting TOI-4551 is TOI-4551 b, a Jupiter-like planet discovered in 2023 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star slightly dims the observed brightness. It orbits every 9.96 days. TOI-4551 b has a mass of 474 Earth masses and a radius of 11.9 Earth radii, both larger than Earth's. Its mass is roughly 1.49 times Jupiter's mass, and its mean density is 1.56 g/cm³, 0.284 times Earth's.
