TOI-3976 A b: A Jupiter-Like World Around a Distant Star

TOI-3976 A is a star 1680 light-years away with one known planet in orbit around it. The star is estimated to be 3.8 billion years old, with a mass of 1.25 solar masses, a radius of 1.5 solar radii, and a temperature of 5980 K. Its mass, radius, and temperature are all larger or hotter than the Sun's corresponding values.

The planet, TOI-3976 A b, was discovered in 2023 by the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's brightness when a planet passes in front of it. Classified as Jupiter-like, the planet has a radius of 12.3 Earth radii and a mass of 55.6 Earth masses, both larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.166 g/cm³, which is 0.0301 times Earth's. TOI-3976 A b completes one orbit around its star in 6.61 days.
