The TOI-3023 System and Its Giant Planet

TOI-3023 is a star 1270 light-years away, and one planet orbits it. The star is 7 billion years old, with a mass of 1.12 solar masses and a radius of 1.67 solar radii. Its temperature is 5760 K. The star's reported mass estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's.

The planet TOI-3023 b is a Jupiter-like world, a size class that describes radius. It was discovered by transit in 2023, when the planet passed in front of the star from our viewpoint and caused a small dip in observed brightness. TOI-3023 b has a radius of 16.4 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and a mass of 197 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. It completes one orbit, or year, in 3.9 days. Its mean density is 0.245 g/cm³, 0.0444 times Earth's.
