TOI-2969 b: A Jupiter-like World in a One-Planet System

TOI-2969 is a K3 V star, a main-sequence K-type dwarf, located 535 light-years away. Its mass is 0.71 solar masses, its radius is 0.7 solar radii, and its temperature is 4740 K. Each of these stellar measurements is smaller or cooler than the corresponding value for the Sun. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, TOI-2969 b, is a Jupiter-like world discovered by the transit method in 2025, when it passed in front of its star and produced a small dip in observed brightness. Its radius is 12.3 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 369 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's and roughly 1.16 times Jupiter's mass. It completes an orbit in 1.82 days. Its mean density is 1.08 g/cm³, 0.197 times Earth's.
