TOI-2458: A Distant Star With Two Known Planets

TOI-2458 is an F9–F9.5 star 368 light-years away with two known planets. Its mass is 1.05 solar masses and its radius is 1.31 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's, and its temperature of 6010 K is hotter than the Sun's. The star is 5.7 billion years old.

TOI-2458 b is a Neptune-like planet discovered by transit in 2024. It has a radius of 2.83 Earth radii and a mass of 13.3 Earth masses, both larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 3.24 g/cm³, 0.587 times Earth's, and it completes an orbit every 3.74 days, the shortest year among the listed planets.

TOI-2458 c was also discovered in 2024, by radial velocity, a method that measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. It has a minimum mass of 10.2 Earth masses, a lower bound larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 16.6 days, the longest year among the listed planets.
