TOI-244 and Its Super-Earth

TOI-244 is a small, cool red dwarf of spectral type M2.5 V, sitting 71.9 light-years away. The star holds 0.428 solar masses and 0.426 solar radii, and at 3430 K it is cooler than the Sun; its age is given as 7 billion years. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, TOI-244 b, was found by the transit method in 2023, when it passed in front of the star and dimmed its light slightly. It is a Super-Earth, a class that reaches up to 2.5 times Earth's radius. TOI-244 b has a radius of 1.52 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and a mass of 2.68 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 4.2 g/cm³, 0.763 times Earth's. The planet completes one orbit in 7.4 days.
