TOI-1824 b: A Neptune-like Planet in a One-Planet System

TOI-1824 is a star 194 light-years away with one known planet. The star is 2.5 billion years old and has a mass of 0.88 solar masses, a radius of 0.812 solar radii, and a temperature of 5170 K. Its mass and radius are smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler.

The planet TOI-1824 b was discovered in 2024 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It is Neptune-like, a size class that reaches 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 2.74 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 16 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 4.27 g/cm³, 0.775 times Earth's. It completes an orbit every 22.8 days.
