TOI-1772 is a single-star system 319 light-years from Earth. Its star has a mass of 0.99 solar masses, a radius of 0.995 solar radii, and a temperature of 5580 K, which is cooler than the Sun's reported temperature. One planet orbits this host.
That planet, TOI-1772.01, was discovered in 2024 by the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's brightness when a planet passes in front of it from our viewpoint, with repeated dips helping establish the planet's orbital period. TOI-1772.01 is a Neptune-like planet, a size class that extends up to 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 2.91 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and it completes an orbit every 8.05 days.
