TOI-1723 b: A Neptune-Like World Orbiting a Star

TOI-1723 is a star 329 light-years from Earth, with an age of 4.8 billion years, a mass of 1.04 solar masses, a radius of 1.09 solar radii, and a temperature of 5740 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are both larger than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, TOI-1723 b, is Neptune-like, a size class that reaches up to four times Earth's radius. Its radius is 3.44 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. It was discovered in 2024 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods, and TOI-1723 b completes one orbit every 13.7 days.
