TOI-163 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-163 is an F-type star 1340 light-years away with one known planet. The star is 1.82 billion years old, has a mass of 1.44 solar masses and a radius of 1.65 solar radii, and a temperature of 6500 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

The planet TOI-163 b was discovered in 2019 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It is a Jupiter-like planet, a size class for worlds whose radius exceeds 4 times Earth's. TOI-163 b has a radius of 16.7 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 4.23 days. Its mass is 388 Earth masses, larger than Earth's and roughly 1.22 times Jupiter's mass. Its mean density is 0.46 g/cm³, 0.0834 times Earth's.
