TOI-150 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-150 is an F-type star 1100 light-years away, with an age of 2.35 billion years. Its reported mass estimate is 1.35 solar masses and its reported radius estimate is 1.53 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's. The star's reported temperature is 6260 K, hotter than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, TOI-150.01, was discovered in 2019 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-150.01 is a Jupiter-like planet, a size class for objects exceeding 4 times Earth's radius. Its reported radius estimate is 14.1 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its reported mass estimate is 798 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's and roughly 2.51 times Jupiter's mass. Its mean density is 1.58 g/cm³, 0.287 times Earth's. TOI-150.01 completes an orbit every 5.86 days.
