TOI-1439: A Distant Star With a Single Giant Planet

TOI-1439 is a star 751 light-years away with one known planet. The star is 4.6 billion years old and has a mass of 1.23 solar masses and a radius of 1.62 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's. Its temperature of 5840 K is hotter than the Sun's.

The planet TOI-1439 b was discovered by transit in 2024. During a transit, a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. TOI-1439 b orbits every 27.6 days. Its radius of 4.24 Earth radii is larger than Earth's and places it in the Jupiter-like size class, which covers planets exceeding four times Earth's radius. Its mass of 38.5 Earth masses is also larger than Earth's. The planet's mean density is 2.78 g/cm³, 0.504 times Earth's.
