TOI-1273 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-1273 is a star 578 light-years away, with a mass of 1.06 solar masses, a radius of 1.06 solar radii, and an age of 3.1 billion years. Its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's, while its temperature of 5690 K is cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet is TOI-1273 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by the transit method in 2024. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-1273 b completes an orbit every 4.63 days, has a radius of 11.1 Earth radii, and a mass of 70.6 Earth masses. Its radius and mass estimates are both larger than Earth's, and its mean density is 0.285 g/cm³, 0.0516 times Earth's.
