TOI-1244 and Its Super-Earth

TOI-1244 is a star 334 light-years away with an age of 5.9 billion years. Its mass is 0.753 solar masses and its radius is 0.723 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's corresponding values, and its temperature of 4720 K is cooler than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet, TOI-1244 b, is a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2024. During a transit, a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-1244 b completes an orbit every 6.4 days. Its radius is 2.47 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
