TOI-1080 and Its Earth-like Planet

TOI-1080 is a small, cool red dwarf of spectral type M4.0±1.0 V, located 83.4 light-years away. Its reported mass is 0.167 solar masses and its reported radius is 0.202 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's, while its temperature of 3070 K is cooler than the Sun's. The star's age carries a reported lower limit of 6 billion years.

One planet orbits this host. TOI-1080 b was discovered by transit in 2026, the method in which a planet passing in front of its star produces a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. The planet completes an orbit every 3.97 days. Its radius is 1.2 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its Earth-like classification places it within 1.5 times Earth's radius. Its mass carries a reported upper limit of 10.7 Earth masses.
