PH2 b: A Jupiter-Like Planet Orbiting a Sun-Like Star

PH2 is a G3 star located 1120 light-years away. It has a mass of 0.966 solar masses, a radius of 0.949 solar radii, a temperature of 5730 K, and an age of 4.1 billion years. The star's reported radius estimate is smaller than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

PH2 b is a Jupiter-like planet discovered by transit in 2013. It has an orbital period of 283 days, a radius of 9.34 Earth radii, and a mass of 87.1 Earth masses. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's, and its reported mass estimate is larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.589 g/cm³, 0.107 times Earth's. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness, and repeated dips help establish orbital periods.
