NGTS-26 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

NGTS-26 is a star 3570 light-years away with one known planet, NGTS-26 b, discovered by transit in 2024. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. The host star is 11.5 billion years old, has 0.96 solar masses, 1.16 solar radii, and a temperature of 5550 K. Its radius is larger than the Sun's, while its temperature is cooler.

NGTS-26 b is a Jupiter-like planet, a size class for objects exceeding 4 times Earth's radius. It has 14.9 Earth radii, 92.8 Earth masses, and an orbital period of 4.52 days. Its radius and mass are both larger than Earth's, and its mean density is 0.155 g/cm³, 0.0281 times Earth's.
