NGTS-2 is a star 1160 light-years away with a single known planet. The host is an F5 V star, a classification indicating a main-sequence dwarf hotter than the Sun. Its spectral type places it in the F temperature class, and its measured temperature of 6480 K is hotter than the Sun's. The star's mass is 1.64 solar masses, larger than the Sun's, and its radius is 1.7 solar radii, also larger than the Sun's. Its age is 2.17 billion years.
The one known planet is NGTS-2 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered in 2018 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. Its radius is 17.9 Earth radii, larger than Earth's and well beyond the roughly four Earth radii that mark the Jupiter-like size class. Its mass is 235 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit every 4.51 days.
The planet's mean density is 0.227 g/cm³, 0.0412 times Earth's.
