NGTS-16 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

NGTS-16 is a G7 V star, a main-sequence dwarf, located 2930 light-years away. It is 10.3 billion years old, has a mass of 1 solar masses, a radius of 1.21 solar radii, and a temperature of 5550 K. Its radius is larger than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this star.

That planet, NGTS-16 b, is a Jupiter-like world discovered in 2021 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. It completes an orbit every 4.85 days. NGTS-16 b has a mass of 212 Earth masses and a radius of 14.6 Earth radii, both larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.378 g/cm³, 0.0685 times Earth's.
