A Distant Sun-Like Star and Its Close-Orbiting Planet

NGC 2682 YBP 1514 is a G-type main-sequence star located 2980 light-years away. Its spectral type is G5 V, and it is 4.15 billion years old. The star's reported mass is 0.96 solar masses, its radius is 0.89 solar radii, and its temperature is 5730 K. Its mass and radius are both smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

One planet orbits this star. NGC 2682 YBP 1514 b was discovered in 2014 using the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion; repeated wobbles reveal the planet and its orbital period. The planet has a minimum mass of 127 Earth masses, meaning its true mass is at least this value, and its minimum mass is larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit every 5.12 days.
