A Sun-Like Star and Its Close-Orbiting Planet in NGC 2682

NGC 2682 YBP 1194 is a G-type main-sequence dwarf, a Sun-like star, located 2850 light-years away. Its spectral type is G5 V, and it has an age of 4.15 billion years, a mass of 1.01 solar masses, a radius of 0.99 solar radii, and a temperature of 5780 K. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet is NGC 2682 YBP 1194 b, discovered in 2014 by the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion and can reveal both the planet and its orbital period. NGC 2682 YBP 1194 b has an orbital period of 6.96 days, so it completes one orbit in under seven days. Its minimum mass is 102 Earth masses, making it more massive than Earth.
