Kepler-974 is a star 438 light-years from Earth with two known planets orbiting it. The host star is estimated to have 0.52 solar masses, 0.5 solar radii, and a temperature of 3690 K, making its reported mass and radius estimates smaller than the Sun's and its reported temperature cooler than the Sun's. It is estimated to be 4.37 billion years old.
Both planets were found by transit, the method in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. KOI-1843.03, classified as a Sub-Earth, was discovered in 2013. Its radius is 0.61 Earth radii, smaller than Earth's, and among the listed planets it has the smallest radius and the shortest year, at 0.177 days. Its mass is reported as an upper limit of 8 Earth masses. Kepler-974 b, a Super-Earth discovered in 2016, has a radius of 1.57 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and among the listed planets it has the largest radius and the longest year, at 4.19 days.
