Kepler-946 b: A Super-Earth in a Distant System

Kepler-946 is a star located 3710 light-years away. It has 0.94 solar masses, 0.93 solar radii, and a temperature of 5670 K. Its age is 4.17 billion years. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet is Kepler-946 b, a Super-Earth discovered in 2016 by the transit method. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-946 b has an orbital period of 11.8 days and a radius of 1.93 Earth radii, with a reported radius estimate larger than Earth's.
