Kepler-92 and Its Three Planets

Kepler-92 is a star located 1560 light-years away, and three planets have been found orbiting it. The host star is 5.89 billion years old, with a mass of 1.17 solar masses and a radius of 1.69 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's. Its temperature is 5830 K. All three planets were detected by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods.

Kepler-92 b is a Neptune-like planet discovered in 2013. Its mass is 64.3 Earth masses and its radius is 3.51 Earth radii, both larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit every 13.7 days, the shortest year among the listed planets. Its mean density is 8.19 g/cm³, 1.49 times Earth's.

Kepler-92 c is also Neptune-like and was discovered in 2013. It has a mass of 6.1 Earth masses and a radius of 2.6 Earth radii, each larger than Earth's. Its orbital period is 26.7 days, the second-shortest among the listed planets, and its mean density is 1.91 g/cm³, 0.347 times Earth's.

Kepler-92 d is a Super-Earth discovered in 2015. Its radius is 2.07 Earth radii, larger than Earth's and the smallest among the listed planets. It orbits every 49.4 days, the longest year among the listed planets.
