Kepler-917 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-917 is a star 11300 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 4.17 billion years old and has a mass of 0.8 solar masses, a radius of 0.76 solar radii, and a temperature of 5420 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-917 b was discovered by transit in 2016 and is classified as a Super-Earth. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-917 b orbits every 2.97 days and has a radius of 1.91 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its size classification compares radius with Earth's, where a Super-Earth reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius.
