Kepler-906 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-906 is a star 2470 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 1.86 billion years old and has a mass of 1.06 solar masses and a radius of 1.02 solar radii. Its reported temperature is 6040 K, hotter than the Sun's, and its reported mass estimate is larger than the Sun's.

The sole planet, Kepler-906 b, was discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-906 b completes an orbit every 41.7 days. It is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius, and its measured radius is 2.11 Earth radii.
