Kepler-884 and Its Earth-Like Planet

Kepler-884 is a star 1550 light-years away with a mass of 1 solar masses, a radius of 0.94 solar radii, and a temperature of 5720 K. Its reported age is 2.45 billion years, and its radius estimate is smaller than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, Kepler-884 b, was discovered by transit in 2016, when it was detected as it passed in front of its star and caused a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods, and this planet's period is 5.7 days. Its radius is 1.23 Earth radii, making it larger than Earth. Size classes compare radius with Earth's: an Earth-like planet stays within 1.5 times Earth's radius, and Kepler-884 b falls within that class.
