Kepler-876 is a star located 2680 light-years away, and just one planet has been found in orbit around it. The host star is 5.25 billion years old, with a mass of 0.81 solar masses and a radius of 0.77 solar radii. Its temperature is 5060 K, which is cooler than the Sun, and both its mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's.
The single known planet, Kepler-876 b, was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish a planet's orbital period, which for Kepler-876 b is 5.14 days.
Kepler-876 b is classified as Earth-like, a size class for planets that stay within 1.5 times Earth's radius. Its radius estimate is 1.43 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's.
