Kepler-869 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-869 is a star 3060 light-years away with a single known planet in its system. The host star is 4.79 billion years old and contains 0.97 solar masses. Its radius is 0.95 solar radii, and its temperature is 5660 K, which is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-869 b was discovered by the transit method in 2016, when it passed in front of its star from our viewpoint and caused a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips helped establish its orbital period of 40.4 days. Kepler-869 b is Neptune-like, with a radius of 3.61 Earth radii. That reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
